When I mean high quality I mainly mean websites with good pagerank’s and reputations with google. You also want to find out the alexa rank of the directory you are submitting to as that will give you an idea of how much traffic that directory receives and how popular it is.

If you only submit your blog posts to good quality directories you will be helping to increase your Pagerank and in turn that will get you better results from google. Its quite easy to get your posts assigned a Pagerank just by submitting them to social bookmarking sites and directories, but remember to only get links from website that have a good Pagerank themselves.
